Made in Abyss Episode 1
Made in Abyss is a Japanese anime television series based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Akihito Tsukushi. The anime television series adaptation was announced in December 2016.[1] The 13-episode series aired from July 7 to September 29, 2017, on AT-X, Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, TVQ, Saga TV, and BS11.,[2][3][4] and covers content from volumes 1 through 3. The final episode was a 1-hour long special.[4] The series was directed by Masayuki Kojima and written by Hideyuki Kurata, with animation by Kinema Citrus and character designs by Kazuchika Kise.[1] Australian artist Kevin Penkin composed the soundtrack for the anime.[5][4] Miyu Tomita and Mariya Ise performed both the opening theme "Deep in Abyss" and the ending theme "Tabi no Hidarite, Saihate no Migite", the latter in collaboration with Shiori Izawa).[6] The first season premiered on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block starting on January 16, 2022.[7]
Later on, Prushka is dismembered in the laboratory by Bondrewd. Riko realizes from a heartfelt dream about Prushka that Bondrewd possesses a rare relic called Zoaholic, which can allow him to disperse his consciousness into his Umbra Hands. Formulating a plan for Reg to recharge using the electricity powering Ido Front, Riko and Nanachi follow Meinya to a storage room full of cartridges, specialized packages made from the flesh and essence of humans. Suddenly discovered by Bondrewd, he reveals to them that he used his original body to create his White Whistle. Bondrewd is interrupted when a fully charged and out of control Reg breaks into the room and mounts a ferocious attack against Bondrewd while destroying everything around him indiscriminately. He is brought back to his senses by Nanachi but is dragged down into the Miniature Garden of Dawn by an Umbra Hand. There he faces off against Bondrewd once more while Nanachi guides Reg to the surface as the water bastion from above collapses around them. As Bondrewd chases Reg upwards, his body is fully transformed through the Curse of the sixth layer. In order to protect himself, Bondrewd uses the Blessing, ejecting all the profusely bleeding cartridges, including that of Prushka. Working together, Riko, Reg, and Nanachi manage to defeat Bondrewd, with Riko using Reg's severed Incinerator to cut Bondrewd's body in half. As his current body expires, Bondrewd praises Nanachi and reveals that his new aspiration is for Nanachi to push forward.
The first episode introduces us to the children and their lives in the orphanage, and also the basic knowledge of the world. It also features the meeting between Riko, daughter of a great White Whistle who wants to be a diver greater than her mother, and Reg, a robot that seems to come from deep below. The scenery is beautiful, and the story is interesting, wants me to keep watching more.
The episode introduces us to the greatest mystery: what is the Abyss? What lies at the bottom? Where did all the relics come from? Riko is as eager as the viewer to find out the answers, and her new robot friend will go with her. Still, even with the whimsical times spent at the orphanage, it is mentioned that if Riko ever goes down into the Abyss, she might not make it back.
Riko and her friends have finally made it to the 6th Layer. Not long after taking their last dive, they find themselves in a village populated by Hollows who possess a peculiar sense of value. Mysteries, terrors, and bewildering truths await them in the Abyss' deepest depths.
It's a very interesting show where several people, including young children explore this abyss that came out of nowhere, in hope of discovering it's secrets, and it's valuables. Our main character Riko, wants to explore the depths of the abyss, despite lacking the skills to do so, so she can find out what happened to her parents who are believed to have been two of many who have died in the pursuit of exploring the seemingly endless pit.
The next day, we see the young residents of the Orphanage in a class, where they are reminded of their duties and such. Riko however, desperate to go further into the abyss, begs with one of the adults in there to let her go deeper.
However he can't remember anything about himself, or even that he is a robot. Unfortunately for Riko though, getting the robot booted up caused the power in the Orphanage to go out. She gets yelled at, and just before she's about to get caught with the robot, he uses his arms, which can be stretched out and returned to escape the building. Riko than names the Robot boy Regu, and takes him to see a sight of the abyss from a point she likes, just as the sun is about rise.
Overall, for a single episode that's clearly not meant to be taken with the utmost seriousness, but rather just to be enjoyed, I really like it, a lot, and after this, I'm going straight into watching the second episode, because I want to see what happens next. There's something about this anime that really makes me want to play a video game version of it and any anime that makes me feel like that, is a good one for sure. I give this episode an overall rating of a 9/10. I want to see more, but I love what I've seen so far, and just look at these visuals, they are simply amazing.
As the characters escape the girl names the robot Reg and tells him (and therefore us) about the setting which is insanely interesting due to the hype built up at the start of the episode. We see the sun rise and the brilliant city of the great pit.
Before moving on to discussing and theorizing about the Sixth Layer, I need to rant a bit. You see, this episode was almost a perfect episode. I loved the mystery of the ghost ship, the adventure of the Ganja Party, and how it all connected to the present story.
What do you think of the first episode of Made in Abyss Season 2? This is the anime I was most looking forward to this season. And I have to say that this episode delivered, despite the weird parts. Also, since the season is named after the Sixth Layer, I guess that means the entire thing takes place there.

Upon the ledge where we stood there grew some filbert bushes; and to one of these we made fast an end of our rope of handkerchiefs. The other end being tied round Peters' waist, I lowered him down over the edge of the precipice until the handkerchiefs were stretched tight. He now proceeded to dig a deep hole in the soapstone (as far in as eight or ten inches), sloping away the rock above to the height of a foot, or thereabout, so as to allow of his driving, with the butt of a pistol, a tolerably strong peg into the levelled surface. I then drew him up for about four feet when he made a hole similar to the one below, driving in a peg as before and having thus a resting place for both feet and hands. I now unfastened the handkerchiefs from the bush, throwing him the end, which he tied to the peg in the uppermost hole, letting himself down gently to a station about three feet lower than he had yet been- that is, to the full extent of the handkerchiefs. Here he dug another hole, and drove another peg. He then drew himself up, so as to rest his feet in the hole just cut, taking hold with his hands upon the peg in the one above. It was now necessary to untie the handkerchiefs from the topmost peg, with the view of fastening them to the second; and here he found that an error had been committed in cutting the holes at so great a distance apart. However, after one or two unsuccessful and dangerous attempts at reaching the knot (having to hold on with his left hand while he laboured to undo the fastening with his right), he at length cut the string, leaving six inches of it affixed to the peg. Tying the handkerchiefs now to the second peg, he descended to a station below the third, taking care not to go too far down. By these means (means which I should never have conceived of myself, and for which we were indebted altogether to Peters' ingenuity and resolution) my companion finally succeeded, with the occasional aid of projections in the cliff, in reaching the bottom without accident. 041b061a72
